Configuring SendMail To Act As A SmartHost & To Rewrite From Address

This Tutorial explains how to configure a sendmail server to forward all mails generated from localhost to an another SMTP server for sending mails to remote recipients. Also it explains how to rewrite the from address of to the Example Scenario: You have a production server which is not configured to relay mails externally, but there is a application running on that server which mails its log to the given email address egarding its status and incase of any service failures. since the sendmail runs locally on localhost.localdomain name it tries to forward the mail with to the remote smtp server, which would get rejected because of the reason that localhost.localdomain resolves to Invalid IP. So inorder to overcome that we have to rewrite the from address of root@localhost. localdomain to . so that the other smtp server relays the mail from to the or whatever address you want to send the service status mail to. NOTE: Specific parts of this tutorial applies only to Redhat Based Systems, but in general the procedure applies to all sendmail servers. I am running opensuse 10.3 + XGL + Compizfusion.The various programs used for this recording are purely opensource. 1) recordmydekstop 2) soundrecorder 3) mencoder (mplayer) XGL+COMPIZ FUSION + OPENSUSE WITH SCREENLETS EFFECTS EXPLAINED NOTE: For the Below procedure to work RegEX Plugins has to be enabled in compiz settings manager. How to create a screencast from Linux Desktop:- Its been quite some time since i use to wonder how people create screencast of thier linux desktop. first i thought it used to be recorded remotely using vnc. but the level of quality obtained with VNC is very less. so i came to conclusion there should be someother way of recording it. Until recently I figured out how to create a screencast from linux desktop. so thought that it would be really helpful for people who wanted to create thier own screencast.
